Gerald E. Skillings was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981 after receiving a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree from the University of Windsor in 1979. Gerald acts as counsel to numerous Canadian corporations who have businesses in both Canada and the United States. He also acts for a number of American corporations having business interests in Canada.
Gerald regularly provides advice to his clients concerning general corporate and business matters, as well as financing matters and estate and tax planning. His practice primarily focuses on various types of transactional work such as the negotiation and closing of the purchase and closing of the purchase and sale or merger of a client's business or assets, and the establishment of Canadian subsidiaries or branches by U.S. companies. He also acts as counsel to a number of Canadian banks in connection with secured loans and the financing of private businesses.
Gerald's practice includes such matters as the negotiation of various complex business agreement and arrangements, such as shareholders agreements, buy-sell agreements, and planned corporate re-organizations.
Gerald is a sessional instructor in corporate/commercial law section of the Bar Admissions courses in Windsor, Ontario.
