Biography
Melanie A. Gardin was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. Ms. Gardin has practiced in the areas of civil and commercial litigation.
Ms. Gardin is now exclusively practicing in the areas of serious and catastrophic personal injury. This encompasses motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls and assaults. As part of her personal injury practice Ms. Gardin also appears before the Social Benefits Tribunal for ODSP Appeals and the Review Tribunal/Pension Appeals Board for CPP Disability Pension Appeals. Ms. Gardin also deals with Short-Term and Long Term Disability issues and appeals.
Ms. Gardin is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Ontario Trial Lawyer's Association, Advocate's Society and Essex Law Association.
Ms. Gardin is the President of the local Brain Injury Association of Windsor-Essex County ("BIAWE") which is affliliated with the Ontario Brain Injury Assocation. This is a three year term from 2008-2011. Ms. Gardin is a local representative to the Ontario Brain Injury Assocation Advisory Council ("OAC") and has been elected Chair for a one year term (2009-2010). As Chair of the OAC, Ms. Gardin is also a Director of the Ontario Brain Injury Association ("OBIA").
Ms. Gardin is also a member of a "Friends of Rehabilitation" network to help consolidate services in the community on behalf of those with physical, psychological and cognitive chronic disabilities.
